dash pad 74 Plymouth valiant

Dash pad removal is simple, you just need the right tools. Start by removing the instrument cluster. You will probably need to drop the steering column to do this. Then after the cluster is out, go to the other side and remove the glovebox liner. Now for the right tool--DUCT TAPE!! Wrap duct tape around your wrist so that you don't sever an artery reaching through all those nice sharp-edged openings (cluster opening and glovebox opening) to reach the fasteners on the bottom side of the pad holding it to the dash frame. You may also find it helpful to dislocate your wrist first, so as to be able to bend it in directions it was never intended to go.

Seriously, I have done several of these, and they aren't THAT bad. But go in knowing you WILL get cut.
