I bought a set of ARP main bolts for my 360 the instructions say follow vehicle manufactures specs torque in 3 even steps to 100 ft lbs but the factory spec on the mains is 85 ft lbs.So 85 or 100?

I would go with the factory recommendations.

That's what ARP said to do, so use the service manual spec.

1/2" - 13 bolt is 85 foot pounds.

I would step from 50 to 70 to 85 foot pounds to torque...

The instructions that came with them said 100# so I guess that's what it'll get.Checking the clearance on my rods and all of the are .001 or .0015 #8 is .002 what is the limit

The torque specs given may be different due to type of lube used...SAE 30 oil will produce different preload on the bolts than moly lube, which is recommended by ARP
