Have rebuilt 727 with everything new .Drove it about 120 miles felt it slip a little when it went
into third gear. Was working fine before that.Took it straight home and checked the fluid which was okay.Have not been able to speak to trans guy yet.Any ideas on what the problem may be

I can't see third slipping and everything else ok.
Could it have been the converter?

If it slips a little on the 2-3 shift it's possible a little more throttle pressure would fix that. I assume the trans is all stock, no shift improver kit?

It has a new shift kit installed. Not a reverse manual lock out.It has a new j&w performance
stall converter.Has lokar cable for the pressure control which i checked and it is adjusted correctly

it may be a band adjustment.. Does it do it as it 2-3 shifts?
I

Since you say the 2-3 shift flares it's most likely loose because the band "seated in". Nevertheless you shouldn't just get in there and crank it down. You need to adjust it properly. It's such a simple thing to do correctly. Thought I saw Rustyratrod explain his way of doing it with a short wrench. Maybe that was on your thread about the throttle pressure cable. Search YouTube video's and I bet you'll find a hundred video's on adjusting bands

I have adjusted the bands increased line pressure and it still shifts soft and a slip before going into 3.I also have adjusted kick down with no change.I replaced the converter and all this started. Can a faulty converter cause this .Its like the line pressure is to low.of course the
torque converter company says it will not.

The torque converter cannot change the line pressure. The lugs on the converter are what drives the pump. There's no way to modify lugs. If the line pressure was low it'd affect the 1-2 shift also. How did you adjust the band (what method)?

If you had a stock or near stock stall converter in it before and you went to a pretty loose converter such as a 3000 stall or higher it will soften the shifts a little, but it won't cause the trans to flare up like your describing

Tracy, do you think opening up the 3rd oil supply in the separator plate would take care of this?
Seems like it.

Transmission was completely rebuilt Put in new converter stall 3200 shifted fantastic.Drove it 25 miles. Put different stall converter from another company in it with less stall and noticed on the first shift from 1-2 was much softer and slip between 2-3.Adjusted bands to 72 ft/lbs and backed them off 2 turns.Took pan off no shavings or anything else.Took valve body out and inspected it,looked fine.Put it back together same thing. Also made sure kick down was correct. The only thing i changed was torque conv.Guess will pull it out this week end let tranny guy check trans and put different conv in.

That really sucks, but probably the best thing to do. (let the builder figure it out)

I agree. If the new converter is truly stalling less it just doesn't make sense it would cause softer shifts. I have seen some junk converters that weren't very efficient soften the shifts quite a bit but they also slipped and stalled a lot higher
