wondering about cam and torque converter combo

That's a product of a smaller cube engine with a big cam. I bet it'll sing at high rpm though. A looser converter will get the engine in the power band as soon as you stomp on it so it'd increase the chances of burning the tires easier. If you go that route go with a good 9.5" converter from a leading converter company spec'd for your car. 3800-4000 stall will really wake it up and won't drive much different than your Hughes 3000 stall
