Hello Everybody,
It is a stupid question but I need to check before I go ahead and do anything. Will the axle from a 67-69 Dodge Dart simply bolt into a 67-69 Plymouth Valiant? Or is it more complicated than I think it is? Thanks for you help. Regards, Ron.

If they are the same axle, yes, direct swap. If they are different pinion size axles, e.g., 7.25 to 8.75 or vise versa, then you will have to swap driveshafts as well.

Maybe. First lets get the definition of axle sorted. The axle is the shaft that slides into the axle-housing, and has the axle-flange on one end, to which is mounted ,the wheel.
In terms of running gear, that Dart and that Valiant are the same A-body.From 67 to 72, they are all the same.

If the bolt patterns, and axle tube diameters are the same, and they are both OEMs, then probably yes.I say probably, because after 45 years, theres no telling whats what anymore.
In 69, there were 3 rear end choices; the 7.25, the 8.75, and the Dana. Axles do not swap between any of them.
In 69 A-bodies the bolt circle was 4.0inches. In 73, the bc was increased to 4.5
The 8.75 axle-tubes are 3".All 8.75 small bc oem axles are the same. All 8.75 Big bc oem axles are different than the small bc, and do not fit in the A-body axle-housings.

The 7.25 axle-tubes are smaller,2.5 IIRC. All 7.25 small bc oem axles are the same. Big bc 7.25 axles could be anywhere in length. They might fit, and they might not.

But heres the clincher; If the spring perches are in the stock location, and theres no evidence of them having been moved, and the axle tubes between the two different cars are the same, then it should be a direct swap.

And finally; The entire,non-Dana,complete rear end assemblies can be swapped from one car to the other, even if the axle-tubes are a different diameters, just so long as all the hardware comes along, and the driveshaft. (the shocks will interchange)
