1970 duster 340 4spd TIME CAPSULE!

What he said...

...if it's been sitting for an unknown amount of time, I'd also recommend pulling the covers off and making sure the valves aren't stuck and that they seat after opening. When I first cranked up my Scamp after it sat for...several years...it bent 5 pushrods trying to open the stuck valves...it also kissed a few spots on the pistons...

EDIT: OK, I reread this from the beginning--it's been sitting for 32 years? I didn't see anywhere you said it was last run or moved up and down the driveway, so I'm going to assume it hasn't been turned over for > 5 years...in which case, the suggestion above would still be a good idea. I was amazed at how much effort it took to manually unfreeze all the stuck valves from all the varnish. Thankfully, with all the bits and pieces of gasket kits and spare engine parts, I was able to get it reassembled and running in the afternoon.
