I was on a car cruise a couple weeks ago & was talking with a guy about mpg with different vehicles. He stated that for years he has added approx. one gal. of diesel fuel per tankful of gasoline. He says the diesel fuel helps coat the cylinders/etc & that he can pick up 4-7 mpg more depending which vehicle he's driving at the time. Has anyone heard of this or was the guy just feeding me a good line of BS? Thanks.

A working vacuum advance pulling total timing of 48-52 for standard, and 42-46 for fast burn heads will work real well too.

Never heard of it.

My friend in high school tried to siphon gas from some work trucks once and found out the hard way that diesel won't run in a gas engine. He had to drop, drain, and clean his tank to get it back running...

He learned not to siphon gas after that...

Bullshit. That much diesel in a tank of gas will make it smoke like an old 2 stroke homelite. It most likely will cause detonation.

He is full of total ****. Probably more than likely trying to get you to do something really stupid.

If you are THAT worried about mileage, why do you even have a Mopar?

Some other good scams from the past: Tornado intake insert, STP, and my favorite the "magnet on the fuel line". It was suppose to line up the fuel molecules, LOL.

Not a good idea unless you are having an issue with mosquitos in your area.... You want some upper cylinder lube go with Marvel Mystery oil or just add a cup of ATF to your tankful. I've heard that the diesel will also be harder on your valves at gasoline engine temps.

Guessing the car doesn't have a cat under it. Sounds like the car has been chugging the bong water...

Personally I liked the one advertised as a mini supercharger.
It was a carb spacer with a little propeller in it. Two propellers if you had a 2 barrel
I bet a four barrel would have been awesome hey?

You mean one of these?

20% more gas mileage!
boost horsepower!
Greatly improves performance!

$9.95 single throat carb, $11.95 double throat carb, $15.95 four throat carb!

This is a current BS call.
A friend of the wife came over one day trying to get her to invest in a home business of putting Hydrogen generating cells in passenger cars.
It's an ok idea that does work, but there is currently NO WAY you are going to make an amount of Hydrogen to make much difference at all (let alone the BS 10 mpg she was telling the wife.)
Then there's the liability part of it by doing it out of a garage at home. :D
Hydrogen is highly explosive ya know.
That woman was always chasing some scam trying to get rich quick and wanting the wife to put money into it for her (she didn't have any of her own)
I finally ended up running that stupid bi**h off.

Remember the Platinum coated screen cups that sat under the carb? I tried that one in a big block. I think it was supposed to ionize the fuel or turn it to gold or something. It was still in when I sold the car, well it did catch anything that fell into the carb!!!

hey, picking up 7 MPG on my 360-727 duster would be DOUBLING it

maybe I need a little bit more tuning :eek:ops:

I`ll tell you, in my opinion, hydrogen is a far better answer than obamas 15% bullshit!
I played w/ the hydrogen cell deal one summer a few yrs ago, got my Honda(old one) up to 39.9 mpg, which was about 6 more than it ever got. I didn`t even race that year because of being enthused w/ it. the downfall for me was, I spent too much time keeping the system clean, it wouldn`t work at all if it was dirty, finally decided I was spending too much time on it. now am not interested enough in racing to even go watch, especially the 1/8 mile b.bs. ! ---rant over, carry on troops!
