1967 Dart 270

It is hard to believe that I bought this car two years ago! A lot has happened since then, and I have not been able to do nearly what I have wanted to over those two years. This will be a slow build, but wanted to share it along the way. This a 1967 Dart 270 with a 273. The motor is very tired!. I am not sure why, but I have always liked something that was different then the norm.

The first major project that I am just getting started on will be replacing the drive train. About two months ago we had a local swap meet. I usually am helping my dad look for parts since he owns a camaro, and you never see parts for a mopar. I happened upon a trailer that had a trash bag that said 383 on it, so I thought I would mosey on over. When I came upon the trailer I noticed he also had a sign for a 340. I went over to look at it to see what I could find out about it. He told me that he bought a lot that had a challenger shifter that he wanted, and was trying to unload the rest of the stuff. I have always wanted to build a 340, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity. After talking with him I was able to pick up the block, steel crank, intake for $250 (I will put up picks of these later). I have had a small block 727 for a long time, so I have pulled it out and dusted it off in order to start a rebuild on it. Back in the day I had a 1969 Dart with a 440 in it. When I lost the car I pulled a bunch of parts off of it. One of the things that I was able to pull out of it was the 8 3/4 big bolt pattern rear end with 3.91 gears. I will put what I plan on doing with the motor and transmission later in the post.

Here is what the car looked like when I first bought it:
