AMD actually secured some of the original Chrysler dies for stamping their parts, that's why the fit is usually better. I was surprised by that, but after having a 20 minute or so discussion on the phone, with the owner, he told me that they tried to get as many as they could, and are constantly trying to acquire more.
He also said it's an expensive endeavor, so I'm sure that's reflected in the cost.
