What have you made ?

While running wires for the starter
I couldn't find the correct wire end I needed
Didn't want to buy a factory harness

I have a roll of wire, from a aircraft, that was used to run the APU
just need to crimp an end on.

wasted the morning, trying to find the right size> 1/2"
no one had anything, either to big or small

So, I went to the cooper scrap pile
Found a 1/2" copper pipe end

filled with solder, to end of wire,
crimped while still hot
then flatten remaining end
drill correct hole size, rounded edges

added a piece of heater hose for extra protection and support...

Basically, that is all those ends are.....crimped, squashed, mashed, imprinted, etc copper tube

VERY good. "Reminds" me of something I might do

It would probably eat a little more solder after the smash and drill between the layers. My wife saw some of my junk piles and was wondering why I hadn't scrapped some of it. Bits and pieces of tubing, little triangles of steel (gussets) etc. Then one day I had to build some odd part for a mower or some such and it clicked for her. Raw materials!

Yea, I'm glad the Salvage crew> Commercial Aircraft
Aren't "car" guys

I never complained about "Sweeping up"
after a major part had been pulled

lots of light weight linkage, bolts, and many sizes of hose retainers..
am always using something from the scrap
perfect size for brake line and fuel lines

I think i'll be making all my future cable ends

I decided to put the battery in the trunk,
Have a dummy battery (gutted)up front
just to have "Fun"
let them think the small battery, really runs the car...

made a connector, so I can run the cable to the rear
