Life in the fast lane

I hear that! Good job on beating the bike. I love the acceleration out of the hole, but I've driven down the freeway for a mile or two with my automatic in 3rd gear just to get a feeling for what the 3.91's would be like if I wouldn't have gone to the trouble and expense of fitting a 200R4 in the car. Even with tall 275/60-15's in the rear, it's pretty wound up.

I know I would be hating it on the freeway for any length of cruise if I wasn't able to click the car into it's .67 overdrive and then lock up the 3000 rpm stall torque converter with the flip of a switch.

Whether you go with a cam & gear change with a good converter and a 904/727, or a 500/518 or 200R4 swap; it's nice to be able to cruise comfortably down the freeway. Although, overdrive automatics with or without lock-up converters can give you the best of both worlds. They do come with a weight and cost penalty though.
