'383 Magnum'

Released by Dodge for the 'new' 1968 Model {'Super Bee'}

The Street Talk

"That Engine-Block is built with special material. It can withstand a bullet
from a 44 Magnum."

"They melted down Magnum, and forged the internals of the Engine from
the material."

"It's a secret Engine that is Superman Strong. It is indestructible."

"It's a special high-performance 383 Engine from Dodge. The block,
crankshaft and rods are made from special high-strength steel."

"The '383 Magnum', is an extra-strong 383. The Engine Block is thicker
and has extra-webbing."

"The '383 Magnum' is much stronger than the '383 Road Runner Engine'.

Don't forget "Make sure to get the six pack option"

Got their arse handed too them many a time from a 340:D:D

the 340 was a good engine, but not that good on the street.
short blasts stop light to stop light the 340 loses.

'383 Magnum'

"All the parts are 'specially treated' with Magnum steel."

"The 383 Magnum is so powerful, that they had to make a Super Bee with
special suspension."

"Look at my Air-Cleaner, it says 383 Magnum. Do you know what that means."

383 were dogs , at least back in the day , never met one a good 340 could not walk all over .

That 383 "Magnum" is what sold me on MOPAR's. And does anyone know just what the ACTUAL hp was on a "340" and NO 275 HP was not the actual HP! lol

Thx Mr Tim San !!!

Perusing this thread (& others) 'cause I know 'zip' about the B & RB platforms...

By way of ... mmmm ... context, I spent 2k$ on a 273 in '69,
wiped the floor against some Big Block builds, ...

That being said,
I also had My arse "handed to Me on a platter " ( read 4+ car length losses) by
383 'turd engine' powered platforms numerous times.

Apologies to the O/P,

Excellently appropriate, comment..( if you win,& win with a gear drive,I cannot whine'.)..Sounds like early Jackson Browne, I think....)

Yank the 383, put a 440 in it! Put the 383 air cleaner back on it, and let them believe it is a badass 383!

Ture story - I had a '71 Newport that had a 383. After some modifications I stuck the "383 4barrel" emblems on it and painted "383" billboard type graphics on the quarters. I actually got in 2 fist fights over whether or not it was a "real 383"...
