my dads 451 demon runs 10.60's with a 1.51 60ft in full street trim. drives it to the track with 30lbs of air. drops pressure down to 18lbs and runs mid 10's and drives it home. THEY ARE DANGEROUS IN THE RAIN. this is no joke. I was with him once and we got caught in the rain. the car would break loose cruising at 55mph. no horse play. just start dancing in the rain.

So true, they will break loose just drifting in the when its wet!......when dads car went 12.60 they had hundreds of street miles too, pretty durable tire. Also as the tire wears more lower the pressure slightly to flatten the tire and make use of the tread at the edge of the tire

I agree with both post above..and i don't run them on the street(track only) because they're so sticky they pick everything up ie:stones cig. butts twigs ect..

yeah that's:protest: what i was worried about. so with that in mind whats the best street slick tires?

A friends leaf spring turbo charged small block Gen 2 Camaro ran 8.60s on Mickey drag radials.... His foot slipped off the pedal and it pulled the wheels again getting back into it....

This car before he built the triple nickel blue car.

Most members won't like this....I'm trying to get that ol' 60s vibe with my Barracuda, Mickey Thompsons:

If it's a street car that will be used often go with the nitto drag radials. Most guys are getting 10 to 15k miles on them and they are ok in rain. I run them with about 400hp and a 4,400 stall, my car does a 1.66 60' and they dead hook on the street for me. No rocks getting thrown on my quarter panels also.

Not to hijack, but I'd be curious to know that combo and see a pic or two...

would i have issues fitting a 275/60/15 on a rally wheel 5x8?

spec wheel is 8"
I put them on 10"/5"backspace

Tire Compound: R2
Tire Overall Diameter: 28.0''
Average Roll Out/
Circumference: 87''
Tire Tread Width: 9.5''
Tire Section Width: 11.0''
Wheel Diameter: 15''
Spec Wheel Width: 8.0''
>>>>>>>>>>>>>Approved Wheel Widths: 7.5-9.5'' <<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Tire Weight: 33.0 lbs

15 x 8 in the back 4" back space. No mini tub. Disc brakes hiding under there too.

M/T 275/60/15. Driven back and forth to the track (80 miles one way) through NYC traffic. 15 x 8 rims, can't remember the backspace. 10 x 2.5" LBP rear drum brakes, Moser axles, Dr. Diff offset shackles, Caltracs +1" over stock, bars in lower hole. 165/65/R15 front tires.

Air the tires up for the street, 18 psi at the track. 1.7 60 ft. launch from idle. Could use improvement but the car only went 12.20 so it's pretty much right on. New combo coming together as I write so numbers will change at some point.

Don't really drive the car in rain so I can not vouch for how well they perform in those conditions. Not sure I would use drag radials in a daily driver situation, probably not the right tire. M/T makes the S/R which would probably be a better choice.
