Here's a few Nats photos from this year. Feel free to post yours here too! I had 3 highlights to my trip. I made it over to the show car judging tent and met Ulf (65dartcharger). What a great guy and what a beautiful car. Very nicely done! Hemidenny had a huge tent with some over the top cars. A class act for sure. Saturday afternoon there were 50+ people in the tent at any given time. Well done!
Another fun thing was I met a guy with the green Duster. I have been playing his U tube video of his 318 with a Whiplash cam. I loved the sound and the car and it was a pleasure to meet the guy. He was staying at our hotel in Heath. Well here she goes..............................

More to come in a bit. My download caused a lag in my son's online game. Lol

Here's Hemidenny and his array. There were more FABO folks there but I was so busy I didn't meet and greet.

Maybe Denny can chime in and tell the story of the cars and Joe Pappas. Also of the legendary Silver Bullet.

I too met Hemi Denny and Hemi Mark, very nice people for sure.I talked to Denny for about 30 min about the k-frames(top quality for sure)and yes the cars in his tent were absolutely unbelieveable.........................................................................Jeff

It was a gas......

A little girl asked Ben Donhoff (owner and current driver )of the Mopar Missile for an autograph. She not only got the autograph , but Ben had her climb in the drivers seat of the Missile.

Joe Pappas and Dick Oldfield were the men that took care of the Missile. Both were on hand for autographs and share their experiences with Don Carlton and the rest of the Missile crew. As the pictures relate, Joe also spent an enormous amount of time discussing the many lightweight innovations of the famous "wire car" destined to be the next Mopar Missile had NHRA not forced Chrysler to pull the plug on their highly successful factory Pro Stock effort.

On a side note... I spent a lot of time grilling brats with a special onion/mushroom "pookey sauce"....after all , we had our own private outhouse.

I'll post my pics shortly. Uploading them now. Denny's tent and the cars were amazing.

Side Note: Anyone hear about the Superbee stolen right the Nats yesterday?

Damn it !!!!!! Once again, I somehow get caught in a photo with a Adult Beverage in my hand. If I recall correctly, I think I only had one...but you'd have to check with HemiMark to verify that.

I almost have the identical pictures so I may not post them. At least not today.

I've been going to the Nats since 83 and my typical MO has been to spend most of my time in the swap meet. This year I went to the FABO tent first on Saturday and checked in with Denny. The cars were still being put in place and the quality and exclusivity of the cars under the bigtop were very impressive. Three Motown/Mopar Missile cars, the Tom Hoover 66 Hemi Coronet, the Silver Bullet, Orangewagons' ol' man's car with the Tom Hoover small block, Bill's nicely restored factory 440 69 'cuda, the red 68 SS/AA dart, the Demon, the 383 Duster, Denny's Silver Duster, 68 Hemi RR, and more.

Then I went on the other side of the track to see the show cars including Ulf's 65 Dart. Met and talked to him for about a half hour. They had judged half of his car on Friday and he was waiting to get the underside judged Saturday. The car was up on ramps so I took a bunch of pictures because my 64 Val is completely stripped on the bottom except for the front suspension so I'll use them for reference. (I had just painted my underside the night before (Friday)) I'm definitely not going to go to the extremes as Ulf did because mine will be a driver but I crawled under it on the conveniently placed carpet. Only one other car was being judged all weekend, an orange 1969 Daytona. The world famous Ulf remembered me from some of our email correspondence and he was very congenial and patient as we talked. He asked about the location of the FABO tent so I gave him directions and hopefully he found it.

I got to the swap meet about noon and as usual bought more than what I had planned.

Once again Thanks to Denny and HDK for getting the huge tent filled with some awesome cars. he even let me have a Brat later in the afternoon and it was the best I had all day!

I didn't take many pics but I did manage to get a few of my Dads Tom Hoover powered Dart next to Tom Hoovers Coronet before it got crowded under the tent and found a few outstanding Dusters mixed into the unorganized chaos known as the Fun Field.

Old guy with the Demon shirt is me, 6pakattack. Yellow and Black shirt is Joe Pappas, and the gentleman with his back to the camera is Ben Donhoff, owner of the Hemi MOPAR MISSILE !! Definitely an awesome bunch of cars under the HDK Tent !!!! I had to laugh, was sitting behind the Missile, and a little guy maybe 6-7 was eyeing up Bens Missile. He had what looked like a TOYS car in his hand, so I offered to trade the Hemi Missile for his car ! He aid NO, he wanted HEMI DENNY'S Ghost Missile !! Had to lmao !!! At least he has good taste in cars !!!

LOL about the Outhouse ! Denny does make a killer brat and Dogs !!!

Here's the guy with the Duster from U Tube. I can't believe I didn't write down his name.
The car now has a solid lifter 360 that runs strong! I still like the sound of the Whiplash teen! LOL Here's a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ufRTSVOnmDQ

His name is Tom Fabian, from NC. I actually raced against him at the Mopar show at Farmington, NC in my Dakota R/T and got to talking to him about his Duster. Very nice guy, and a beautiful car.

Yes, you only had one............before 11:30, and BTW the cup holds a half gallon!
