I use www.photobucket.com to post pics on here..

Just upload them, then highlight the pic, copy the IMG url and paste it on here..

My .02 - just get a new oem fuel system that's what I did a fuel cell is a waste plus you'd need a different fuel gauge as your factory one wouldn't read correct.. there is a guy selling new full fuel tank kits on eBay for $200 shipped - he's in MN as well

Thanks for the tip on the pics. I do plan to go with a different gauge setup in the future anyhow. So an aftermarket fuel gauge is not an issue. Just need to research and decide what the final direction will be for me. Cant wait to see more updates on your ride!

Well got a few more parts ordered tonight -

Schumacher motor mount shims
K&N air filter
Allstar air filter lid (flat black)
383 magnum air filter decal
fox mustang torque strap
new battery cables
ARP header bolts
new Mopar valve cover breather
Electric fan mount kits
coolant over flow tank (required for racing on a track)
2 new Energy Suspension 2 1/4" dia. bump stops for the lower control arms
1 45* -6 AN fitting
2 90* -6 AN fittings
Pair of 3.5" to 3" header reducers

Also got the park brake strut springs so the brakes will be done this weekend, hopefully be able to bleed them here once done as well..

Gotta figure out how to relay the headlights, and finish the wiring - that's about it and I can install the rest of the torque converter bolts.. gotta get the wiring done so I can not only make sure it doesn't start on fire, but turn the motor over with the starter to get the torque converter bolts done..

Getting a little done, not near as much as I want but oh well.. going to finish the wiring today, as well as the rear brakes. I am going to swap motor mounts again LOL now that I got the Schumacher motor mount shims, hopefully get the positive battery cable swapped out so I can power everything up and see if it all works!

Got a few pics that I will upload when I take a break here..

Nice shopping list. Ah it's the little things in life. Even getting a little done is better then doing nothing!

Well got everything powered up! So far LOL the horn sticks on, so I am leaving it unplugged, dome light don't work, and that is likely the switches in the jamb or the connection in the jamb, Reverse lights don't work, and I never tested the turn signals or flashers..

Nothing started on fire or melted though! - I got the air cleaner decal, wrecked it putting it on, wasted $20 on it oh well..

So today I'm going to finish the rear brakes, and then redo the motor mounts again LOL - swap to the small block mounts, and use the Schumacher shim kit to get them just right - higher on the driver side, lower on the passenger side..

Also got 3 of the 4 torque converter bolts in, 1 left then bump it over to torque them and that will be done..

Well got the brakes done, except for bleeding them, but I will do that tomorrow since I have no brake fluid LOL

Got my rad over flow bottle and trying to figure out how to mount it (from a newer car), and getting my new AN fittings for the fuel system, so I can finish that, and the motor mounts tomorrow, along with bleeding the brakes..

EDIT found out the bottle I got is for a Jeep TJ and I found a small bracket for it so I can bolt it in!

Just doodled through your thread, nice job. Coming close. Ran into a lot of the same issues on my 72 Swinger. Not much room in there.

Thanks man! got a 3 day weekend so will be getting more done! - Still need to upload the 10 or so pics I have yet haha

Ok I'll probably space the pics out as there are 20 LOL here they are -

From where we last left off - mocked up the headers, marked for pounding and came back out - this time mounted to a spare head so not to warp the flange (they're 3/8" but better to be safe than sorry)

They fit on the driver side!

They fit on the passenger side!

They fit on the bottom passenger side!

They fit on the bottom driver side!

Driver side w/ Schumacher mount shims (1/4" AND 3/16" here with the SB mount - also got the dipstick to fit!)

Passenger side w/ Schumacher mount shims (1/4" here) (did the mounts 3-4 times swapping them out LOL and these 2 pics are the final result..)

The day I thought would never come! the cherry picker is off the motor!

wiring fun!

Engine harness mock up

Engine harness wrapped (crossing my fingers it works at this point LOL)

Wiring the headlight relays (*I have a post in the electrical section on this subject http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=324672)
Red power (25a fused)
Black ground
White from switch
Blue to lights
Factory harness -
Red - high beam
Violet - low beam
Works AWESOME - everyone should do this!

Wired - mounting them to the front washer bottle screw on the fender well

With the underhood wiring mostly done, I moved on the the under dash wiringing -
had to solder a pin on the back of the cluster, cut the amp gauge wires(didn't know they had to be together so I had it all done and had to take it back apart to splice them together as nothing worked in the car), also wired the 2 gauges I have mounted under the dash (wideband o2 and volt - which I wired to a constant so I need to move the power to a switched yet).

Alternator charge wire done

Got all the under hood/ under dash wiring figured out and BAM! It all works kinda haha
The horn stays on when hooked up (never worked before all the work so it's a start into getting it properly working)
The reverse lights don't work - but I still need to get the shifter cable on the trans properly adjusted and they "should" work
The dash lights only work when turned all the way up, I have a spare switch I'm going to try swapping maybe - we'll see if I get ambitious enough LOL
Oh nothing melted or started on fire, motor turns over great! Haven't tested ignition yet but will before trying to fire it..
Also while testing everything I bumped the motor over a couple times, and got 3 of the 4 torque converter bolts in.. will finish that tonight probably

Bought this fox mustang torque strap kit from Summit, on a hunch if I'm honest.. I would have gotten the Schumacher one, but it was designed for the stock K member. I no longer have a stock K member so I bit the bullet, and it payed off - this one bolted right on the QA1 K members sway bar bracket. Sad part is it's about 1" to short - so I need to make a longer piece from the motor, to the strap end (1" longer spacing between the holes) BUT at $53 it's cheaper.. and I won't need to modify or make a new lower mount

I sadly found out awhile back that the $65 fan shroud I ordered will not fit with the fans mounted in any form - so I ordered plastic fan mount kits and mounted straight to the rad..

TONS of room now, just hope the fans work, and are able to keep it cool..

Got the brakes completely done - rebuilt the rears, the A body park brake cables work great with the added width of the B body housing, AND I found out the original mechanism was seized SO the park brake is actually going to work now! Getting ready to bench bleed the master here, and going to pick up a few things to start bleeding them tonight!!!

End of the night mock up - one night I tossed the plugs/ plug wires in to see where they can go - found out why everyone drills a hole in the fender well for the No.6 plug - it's not going to be fun getting this plug installed..

Last pic-
Got my back ordered Summit AN fittings and swapped them out - here is how it's basically going to look - I'll probably make a bracket from the coil mount on the intake to the FPR to hold it in place..
Also found out last night that the throttle cable, and bracket are going to work, so I can pretty much dump oil in, prime the motor, and bolt the intake down, and figuring out the Lokar kick down cable position. Also probably happen this weekend

Getting closer! Too bad you had to beat up those headers....atleast they were not new :glasses7: keep the pics coming and good luck!

That distributor looks an awful lot like mine. Including the electroincs box. Proform?

Looking good getting alot done. Lets see some magic on your 3 day weekend.

Ya they were already beat to fit a 440/power steering car and I paid 1/2 of a new pair so - luckily they're larger so pounding them they won't lose much flow haha

The distributor is in fact the Proform, the ignition box is a Wells brand I painted Orange..

Thank you. I've been feeling kinda miserable, I've only ever seen MSD distributors. Glad to see mine isn't unanimously considered to be junk. :D

We'll see how it works, supposed to have a performance advance curve in it just like the Mopar distributors

One thing I wasn't happy about with it, is it didn't come with any gaskets (I bought the lone dist, didn't buy the kit) - luckily I opened the intake gasket kit as it has the dist gaskets..

Got the lokar kick down cable setup last night, as well as dumped oil in it and started priming it, but today though I want to get the torque converter torqued up, start bleeding the brakes, get the headers tightened up, and start in on the exhaust..

Well good news and bad news..

Good first - I bled the brakes, so now they work great, got all the electrical done in the car except the electric fan over ride switch/power to the fans, got the torque converter bolted up finally, and got the dist clocked right!

Bad - the intake doesn't fit at all.. drilled holes to almost 1/2" I bet and the whole right side still doesn't line up...

Looking good.I was just near Clitherall,MN. last week and would have loved to see it.I got 71 demon painted blue with a 440 in it.Luckily the guy at work I bought it from put the rear and floor in cause Maryland rust is pretty bad.Trying to send a pic.

NICE Feel free to post one in here!

Got the intake down last night, headers bolted up, exhaust a solid 75% done, switched the power wires for the tach/2 gauges to a switched power, tested the few remaining things and all works, and got the dist drive gear clocked, and installed the dist - well the heat don't work well but I'll tinker with the control cables after I get the car going..

Today I plan to finish the 3 cuts for the exhaust, install the plugs/plug wires, hang the fuel tank/fuel filler tube, and figure out why the coil is arching to the fenderwell when I shut the key off..

Well guys the car is just about done on the drivetrain side! On my end anyway, I still have to finish the interior, I still need the rear axle setup, and the spare tire well patched, as well as a few other little things that need to be professionally done..

I'm not sure if I will break in the motor or not at this point, the shop I'm taking it to, has done that many times, plus they have a dyno to tune it as well..
