Delco Alternator swap problem

Hi,

I did the Delco alternator swap (I used an Toyota 4Runner alternator which is basically the same)
I used this tutorial and everything should be correct:

Now if all the wires are connected and I switch the ignition ON the tachometer (aftermarket) rises to 500 rpm, some kind of a strange sound (we think it's from the ignition coil) starts, and if I switch the key to starter positions the engine tries to start but it seems there is no spark, if I release the key to the ignition position, the engine starts and runs OK, also the alternator charger at 14 in idle.

Now if I disconnect the ignition wire and turn the key to ignition position everything is ok (no strange sound, and the tachometer is at 0) and the car start normally. But the alternator doesn't charge. If we connect the ignition wire it starts to charge.

We don't know what to test or fix.

The alternator is from a junk yard.

Kristjan.
