Master cylinder brake pedal disconnect help

I'm working on my '69 dart and im trying to remove the master cylinder. Im attempting to disconnect the pedal from the rod but the bolt is spinning and i cant get to it to hold it because the steering column is in the way. Anyone else have this problem? Am i doing something completely wrong?
 
It's a real pain. Bolt and locknut on the other side. Sometimes it's better to yank the seat out and lay down.
