1969 Barracuda Restore Project

Hello,

I have had my Barracuda sitting in a garage for may years (Was previously my late father's). It was last running in the late 1980s and then parked. My dad started the top end tear down and never finished. There was always another car he acquired and took his time.

I have move the car to my location now and finally have some time to work on it, just very limited on money with the kids.

The car is a 1969 Convertible with the 318 and an automatic. The exterior is in fair shape but will need a paint job and rust spots fixed. The interior needs to be completely redone, since rats made it their home for a number of years. My first step will be to remove the seats (that need to be reupholster) and tear out the carpet.

I am looking for direction on the engine and transmission. I am thinking of rebuilding the 318, but would like to beef it up some. I have thought about a replacement crate engine of bigger size but again don't know where to start with that route (and I am sure it would be cheaper to rebuild the 318 with some additions). I am looking for advice on the suspension and rear end as well and exhaust. I also want to look at bigger wheels and low profile tires, the ones I am used to with my late model TransAm.

I have just started my research and online surfing to restore this car. Are there any decent places to start looking for replacement interior parts such as door panels, arms, kick panels, and dash.

As far as my experience goes I am limited. I have rebuilt my 1985 IROC 305 TPI engine from the block up and rebuilt the 700R4 tranny. However, I have never done a full restoration and this will be a great experience.

I will start with one dark picture of the car coming off the trailer. I will upload more later.

Thanks
