Are you The Stones or The Who?

Precisely.
Unfortunately for some people, things only appear to be black and white, On or off. With no middle ground. Townshed wasn't a bad guitarist, he just couldn't, and can't hand with rock's top guitarist.

Richard is an odd ball, and always has been. His playing ability ( song to song) goes from excellent to mediocre. He does great on the R&B stuff, and on the Rock 'n Roll stuff, and kind of falls apart on the on the Rock stuff, unless he reverts back to what he's really good at.

Same here...
I was a professional Musician (made my living) for a number of years. Started playing Cello and Double Bass back in the late 50, and electric bass in the early 60's about the time the Beach Boys were first making the charts. Play some guitar, keyboards, even have a 5 piece set of Ludwigs, and a flute. Also doing a lot of collecting now.

Still playing today as much as possible, but retirement has afforded me the opportunity to do a lot more traveling, so no permanent gigs any more.

I like collecting, but like cars I have to keep my collection in check!! I have 4 acoustic guitars in the closet right now, 3 accordions (yes, I was in a zydeco band), 2 basses, including my trusty standup, a banjo, mandolin, and my flagship 1960 LP is on loan to my niece, another fine player! I gotta quit buying stuff, that's all there is to it! I've had most of these insturments for more than 25 years, some since I was a kid!! Also lost more insturments than I care to admit to unscrupulous thieves, including my "Fretless Wonder", my 72 Strat, and my 66 EB-1 bass!! Also lost my vintage Bassman amp, a Harmony "Rocket", my blond Precision bass, and an old Kalamazoo single pickup electric!! !! Dammit, now I'm mad again!!!
