Which Mig welder to buy?

From my standpoint of repairing them for the last 20 plus years you can't go too wrong with either a Lincoln or a Miller. The 215 is a good machine and I have yet to see I win the shop for repair other than a gun liner replacement price is decent as ideas about $1600 new without a bottle or wire.

Learned on a Little Lincoln SP 125 with 75/25 gas,on bodywork. "Borrowed " a high end 220 Lincoln fifteen years ago, to box & notch a 70 El Camino for a BBC cheapo oil pan. Hell my miniscule welding abilities looked decent, with a welder like that. 220 if possible, 110 with argon/CO2 is small & versatile, flux core is time consuming,(& a P.I.T.A...), buy a name brand welder... Coming from a guy, with minimal MIG experience: The better welder you buy, the better your work turns out,the less frustrating moments you have.

Thought I would let everyone that was helping me out see what I bought. A friend of mine bought two Lincoln 180 Pro Migs a few years ago and never used them. he sold me one NIB with the cart you see in the picture for $375.00. I bought a new owner bottle of Argon 75/25 for 175.00 full . So i wound up with $550.00 in the whole thing. Thanks to everyone for your help on this. Now I just got to get out and practice with it.

My welders are millers, Millermatic 210 mig with a spool gun and a Syncrowave 250 DX stick/tig. Both have been flawless. Lincolns have to be good welders or they wouldn't still be in business. IMO, buy once, cry once.

Sarge,that's a nice pick up..Enjoy fabrication & learning.

Nice welder you picked up, not to mention that was cool of your buddy to sell you one of them. I think you got yourself a good deal.
