How do you remove this from the end of the rod? And what is the correct term for the rod? Thank you

Clamp the pushrod in a vice and pry the piston off with a couple prybars or screwdrivers.
Leverage is key.
 
Master cyl push rod. It 'pops' out. Best to do while all still in car. Should be able to grab in a vice and get a fork over the part that goes in MC. Tap wit hammer.
 
A little lube in the hole might help. Silicone spray? Its just a little rubber piece in there.
