Primer on Chrome Shift Lever Arm

In the process of screwing up a bunch of things on my project, my soon-to-be ex-body man left this brand new floor shifter and all the components sitting out in the weather for a year. I am partly to blame because I should have removed it early on when I had the chance. Needless to say, I took the dremel tool and cleaned a lot of the rust off of the components, but during some of the body work, my guy sprayed primer all over the chrome shifter arm. It is hard to really see in this picture but there are primer specs all over this arm. Is there a way, or a product, to get that primer off of the chrome arm? I tried using a buffing wheel with the dremel that would not scar the chrome, but that just would not take it off. I also tried using gasoline, but that didn't work either. I am leery of spraying paint stripper on it. Any advice would be appreciated. I will also consider just buying a new chrome arm if someone has one for a reasonable price. Thanks.
