New 65 valiant quarter patch idea

Hey y'all, I figured I'd share a new idea I stumbled across for lower quarter patches for the 63-65 valiants. This may work on other early As but I'm not sure.

My 65 needed patches on the lower rear quarters, but only on the last 6 inches or so. Seeing as how that's all I needed I really couldn't justify spending $165 a piece for the full quarter patch offered by Laysons. After looking at other modern, more common vehicles on the road saw that the lower rear section of mid 90s Chevrolet pickup trucks had the same shape as my car. Going out on a limb I ordered two patch panels for an 88-98 Chevy truck at $62 a piece.

I sized t he m up my eyeball and chopped the lower half of the new panel off and held it up to the side of the car. Much to my amazement it fit like it was MADE for it, even the wheel lip matched up. All that was needed was a little massaging with a body hammer to make the contour of the lip to match that of the car. A little welding later and it was done! I was shickled titless with how well it worked!
