The pre-order process took 2.5yrs but now that they are in production should be a few months by my guess.

I went online to order my black/yellow personalized plates and it took 4 or 5 tries before it would accept my debit/credit card payment. Then my bank showed the $50.00 fee "processing" for a long time, like 3 or 4 days. Then the charge disappeared from my account alltogether and it was never debited. Don't know what the glitch was. I will have to try again through my auto club or in person. The picture of seabee's plate in the previous posting looks to me like the color is a little different from what I remember the plates looked like in the 60's.

These plates are everywhere ,now.. Amazingly enough,on late model rides, in San Luis & Santa Barbara counties.. See at least,a dozen a day...

Yep. They're everywhere in the bay area too and in my opinion, they look stupid and out of place on a late model car.

I am torn, glad I can now get one for my 69 that had newer white plates when I bought it, but at the same time a little of the drive has left me due to them appearing on so many new cars, especially black vehicles. Use to be that the corner of my eye would catch an older plate from a mile away, and I would get excited and after it knowing I would catch up to it and there would undoubtedly be a cool car attached, but not the case anymore. I agree the color is not the same, yellow especially, and the black appears to be different due to reflective properties added.

Well....I couldn't help it either....
Don't know why the picture is sideways....but you get the idea...

They sure look good on a black and yellow car. Wish they would have made them more vintage though. I agree with the fact that you see them everywhere now though. Kinda kills it.
