I am in the process of gathering the necessary parts to upgrade my 68 Dart GT from front Drum brakes to disk brakes.
I am fitting NOS parts so the conversion looks like it was factory fitted.
I have all of the pieces required for the conversion except a Raybestos RC4176 Caliper (I have a Raybestos RC4175 so I need the matching RC4176)
I have tried Rock Auto but they never seem to have the Caliper in stock. :banghead:

As I live in New Zealand, it is sometimes difficult/expensive to obtain parts and get them shipped to me. Along with the freight costs it is too expensive to supply a core exchange so I have to pay the top price.

Can anyone suggest where I can purchase the Raybestos RC4176 (or even a FRC4176) that will also ship internationally.
:help:

If you already have a caliper why don't you just rebuild it? :dontknow:

Those Kelsey Hayes 4 piston calipers aren't the easiest to come by, but not impossible to find from parts suppliers.

Why the fixation in wanting to obtain one from just Raybestos?

Rock Auto lists, sells, them with the Centric name on the box.

They are only hard to come by, if there aren't any rebuilt ones in the system, for sale, that have come in for rebuilding, then put up for sale by the vendors.

A caliper is all the same, no matter who's name is on the box.
Raybestos, Centrix, Dorman, and some smaller, lesser known companies.

I rebuild these things, and currently have a pair of them listed in the "For Sale" section of this forum.
Sold as a pair only, i do not, will not break up the set.

I don't have the caliper, that's why I need one, and I wanted to get the same as the one I have.
If the Raybestos are just rebuilt units, and are the same as the Centric, I will just buy a Centric.

Just get a reman caliper, A1 cardone is the main reman caliper supplier, im assuming that the raybestos one you have is a reman, if it happens to be a nos it wont matter, all the reman calipers have the factory caliper housing with new components and seals
Search that part number on ebay and all youll find is cardone, benefit to buying on ebay some of the sellers will ship internationally, buy a A1 cardone caliper paint both to match as the factory style cast color and call it a day

I wouldnt use a nos caliper anyway, been sittin for 30 plus years seals are shot and piston is prob rusted, its bad enough that some of the remans are prob 5-10 years old

Centric are nice pieces, sold them for two years...

Thing is, you REALLY don't know what you will get nowadays. Our brand at work is Brake Best. We routinely get Raybestos, Wagner, EIS and other parts in with a Brake Best part number sticker on them. So good luck.

This has been happening in the parts industry, for years..( The buyout of parts from chain/independent store buyouts/& the logistics of reboxing different brands.) I was taught as a tech," rebuild the OEM part that came off the car..." FWIW,your statement is honest,at the day is long.( think summer solstice) This o.p.'scase: Find what you can...I.T.T.C...
You are asking for the Kelsey Hayes 4 piston calipers.. (Rare & expensive)
Read this...https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...OjqWAcn-Bhy0nJUjw&sig2=KKy8OR6h-aI0TAD5T0AMqA
And this....https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...orvYmqpVcuF_9gL7A&sig2=QNWYzN23mNdQgX06rw95kw
Unless you are locked into four piston calipers, find a set of '73 up spindles...

And one more....

... All I need now is a correct disk brake proportioning valve for a 68 Dart and I can start the conversion.
In 1967, the prop valve was a separate piece and quite rare today, though I recall seeing it on a website (Inline Brakes?). I don't know about 1968. It might have moved into the "combination valve". Try Google Images.
