65, 66 Formula S

-
I have a 65 formula S cuda 4spd silver with red racing stripe/ red interior, 65 formula s auto silver w black interior. Don't know if they count but I have 3 rally pack Commando 4spd cudas.

I have a 66 Barracuda formula S. it is apart and needs my attention again. I have 340 and 4speed ready to go in it but am working on interior right now. I bought it from a guy who tore it apart and then lost interest. now I get to put it together. Been fun so far.

Pscuda65. That's awesome. Post some photos if you can. We love to see pictures.

Searcher1990. Keep up the hard work. One piece at a time. You will get it done. Imagine how proud to finish and tell people what you have accomplished. That is awesome.

There is one less 66 Formula S now, sad to say. I just finished scrapping one out. Heres a pic of how it was when I got it, and what I have left now. It was super rotted body wise, there was nothing to save. Sad to see them this way. That's what happens when they sit in a woods, on the ground for 36 yrs. The motor is froze, I hope I can save it.

That's so sad! But that's what happens if you don't protect them. I know where there are several A-Bodies as well as a couple of Challengers and a RR setting on the sandy soil. Such a waste

I got a 65 "S", rad support numbers show an April 1st build date, the first one...#00001 no foolin!
Shown here in 3rd motor '340' trim. Lost 273/4 to bad rod bearing and then lost 318 to oil pump...

What a shame about the 66 S. If it were a HEMI car someone would graft an under carriage from a rust free car to the remnants of what was left. I know a guy it here in CA that does that.

Here is one of my projects. I rescued it from a wrecking yard in Las Vegas. It's a Commando 273 4spd car. The 4spd was still in it but the engine and front suspension were already gone. The fender tag was missing too but the cut out in the valance proves it's a Commando car. It has a clear title too. Was also missing the trunk lid so I put that rusty one on temporarily. It was raced at some time since it has holes cut in the inner fenders for headers. More pics to come

I don't understand how the first 65 S was built in April. They were announced and came out with the new models in Sept. 1964. My 65 S was built in December 1964. Do you by some chance have an early build 64 Barracuda?

Great looking ride you have, Thanks everyone for posting pictures

That's a '65 Barracuda. The dash is different. Also, no Formula S models in '64. Not sure about the introduction date on the '65. Pretty sure the '64 Barracuda was introduced April 1st, 1964. Maybe somebody swapped radiator supports?

It's likely a April 1, 1965 build date. #00001 is the sequential build number, meaning it was the first car scheduled to be built on that line on that date. My apologies if I have this wrong, I'm speculating right now since that's what blogs are for. Maybe pishta can clarify this.

Whats the story on the red truck in the background of your pic PScuda65,??.

The is I bought it from a neighbor of mine for $300. He owed several hundred dollars in back registration fees. It has a 78, small-block, 4spd trans and its a 4x4. It runs too.

When I said no Formula S in '64, I meant for the '64 model year. The Formula S package wasn't available until the 1965 model year. The car in the ad is a '65 model. Look at the dash. O:)

Uh... I very well KNOW that this was for the 65 model year, and that it Was introduced in the Fall of 64... I was just backing up/supporting what you said and answering your... " Not sure about the introduction date on the '65 "

I have a 65 Formula "S" and I know what my dash looks like and I know what a 64 looks like!!! However, I should have wrote "65" in front of "Formula S".... Bahhhh (Note: it was VERY late for me last night when I posted it and I was Very tired)

Geesh...
