line lock on the street question

I am considering a rear line lock to lock the rear brakes. I have an auto transmission of coarse. My question is: when your at a light stopped and you activate the line lock, it will lock the rear brakes that have pressure on them right? This causing the brakes to roast while doing a burn out? How would one go about locking the rears at a light without possibly burning out the brakes? My guess is to stop at the light, than release the pedal, flick the switch or hold switch and step on the brake quickly again so you don't roll into traffic and then roast the tires! Is this the correct way? Basically I'm looking for suggestions on how you guys are actually using your REAR BRAKE line locks.
