August 1964 ~ 1964 Dodge Dart GT 'The Red Weenie'

The 273/ 235 HP was already being produced with release in mid-Sept 1964 (1965 Models). Press models (pre-production) were out in July 1964.

The Red Wennie would have been a slightly different take- 3:55 vs 3:23, aluminum dual plain vs factory cast iron. Both running Premium (almost hints 10.5 pistons). Target seems to be similar to the Barracuda, but they didn't target the suspension. Rally, Sport, Formula S for the suspension.

So the 273/ 240 Dart GT would have been similarly classed with the 273/235 Barracuda at the strip?

Actually No >

* 1964 Dodge Dart GT 'Convertible' ..... #2950 lbs. ~ 240 HP = 12.29 Wt/HP

* 1964 Barracuda .............................. #2940 lbs. ~ 235 HP = 12.51 Wt/HP

'The Red Weenie' with the 273/240 HP would have been classed in E/SA in 1964.

Note; The 'Red Weenie' was marketed as an Automatic Only car.

The Barracuda 273/235 HP 'Commando' would have been classed in F/S or F/SA in 1964.
