A body K member

what are the differences between a 63-66 vs 67-76 K member?

one for one, the 73-76 is a spool mount and the 67-72s are a spool mount, not sure about the older ones

does anyone know the dimensional difference in the mounting holes?

don't know. but the 63-66 won't bolt into a 67-up as far as i remember.

what are ya getting at? maybe ask the actual question that you are dancing around and maybe someone will have a direct answer for you.

.

I found a RMS set up for 63-66 dirt cheap. trying to figure out if it can be modified to fit a 70

IMO, probably not. The changes needed, probably to accommodate the B/RB engines, widened the tread width by 0.8". This affects the attachment points of the lower control arms to the K-frame. Even if the newer part were a bolt-in fit, it would create more negative camber on the front tires than the alignment bolts can compensate.

What forms this opinion, one may ask? Upper control arms were different from 1963-66, 66-72 and 73-76. The lower control arms interchange across all years. Front tread width changed from 55.9" to 57.5" between 1966 & 1967. At the same time, overall width of the car changed from 70.8" to 71.6".

The shock towers on an rms would also hit the frame as it would be over an inch narrower than a late a body, so unless you cut the frame in half and widened it, it wouldn't even fit around the frame.

Damn, Joe, LMAO, you have been hangin around me too long.

visual, width, difference-- you would need skills to modify the 62-66 K to work in the later cars,

does this mean if you have a 68 + slant six and you switch to a v8 you have to switch your K member?
