All of the folks that have Gen 2 cudas with a BB, I have a question regarding left side exhaust manifold removal. It appears to me that I will have to remove/relocate the steering column. The service manual is not real clear on this to me and am asking how much of pain that is to do. Just looking for any tips or tricks and lessons learned.
Next question is in regards to headers. Do the ones from TTI fit with little or no modifications. Or are there others out there that will fit without going thru the fender wells or other modifications. I do have the mini high torque starter installed and have 727 trans with consel shift. Thanks and if this has been talked about before, sorry, I could not find it with a search of the site.

I can not give advice on the headers, but I had a coolant leak on one if the middle studs on re-assembly and was unable to remove the manifold with the column in. I was able to move it far enough back to get the stud out and resealed with theflon and reinstalled. It is not hard to pull the column back but I got lazy and just had got the car back together!

Pull the column. It makes service so much easier. I put a screw in the steering coupler to prevent it from separating.

I always lifted the engine. Just loosen the motor mount nuts in the passenger side and remove them from the drivers side. Lift engine until you can remove the manifold.

Thanks for the tips. I removed the steering column and glad that I did. Discovered that the steering knuckle was not engaged completely and missing the seal and cover plate. Will also be able to clean and repaint the column assemble and replace firewall gasket.

In the process of removing the engine for overhaul. Engine was not "rebuilt" as the previous owner told me. Just a good paint job. Cam is trashed and cylinder walls have scoring and water stains with no crosshatching left. Only good thing is that it is still standard bore.
