Does anyone know if the star mobile obd2 scanner used by mopar dealers can alter the ECM for the 3rd Gen Hemi. I have a chance to purchase one that came out of a closed up Dodge dealer. Looking to be able to eliminate the key security etc. Thanks
 
If it's cheap enough just buy it and try it! You may be quite popular if it does........

The star scan will work on trucks up to 2009.
 
None of the dealer scan tools (drb3, starscan, star mobile, witech) can eliminate security that I'm aware of, unfortunately.
 
It is my opinion all those scanners would not be worth
any amount of money you would have to pay for them.
Yes It will give you codes, but it is up to you to decide which
code is the real problem. This is done by recognising traits that are common on a particular model from reading repetitions.
 
Thanks for all who replied. He wants $500 for the scanner the last update was 2004 and I don't think I am going to take the chance to see if it might change the emc. I already have a OBDII scanner that will read the codes so having second one does not make sense.
 
Star Scan/Star Mobile came out after 04. The DRB was before that. Star Scan sucks, it is soooo slow. I used it every day for several years. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to smash it into little bits. Besides, it won't do what you want it to do. It only works with a CAN controller.

Sounds like you are using it for is an engine controller. Better off just getting an aftermarket PCM instead of trying to mess with a factory one. Not sure if something like that exists or not.

I know there is a Diablo Sport controller but I am not sure if it works with vehicles retrofitted with a G3 hemi, might only work with CAN bus cars.
 
That's a big price for a outdated scanner.
