I need some fresh ideas. After a 1/4 mile pass, I am getting motor oil on the passenger side inner fender and underneath the hood. I have ruled out the valve cover breathers and the dip stick. Valve cover gaskets looked good. It appears to be from the passenger side. Has anyone experienced this?

I am running electric pump. I am going to replace the gasket on the block-off plate. This has me scratching my head.....

hhhmmmm oil filter.. good suggestion. I need to look low. I have been focusing up high. Thanks

In the early part of my engines life, while using 10/15W40, and when redlining it, it liked to blow oil out from the oil filter area. It was not ballooning the can. I figured it was blowing the shaped filter seat off the block. (no 90* adapter). So i grabbed a second plate, and stacked them. I doubled the number of holes in them by drilling and chamfering. This cured it. Some time later, I switched to 10W30. Been that way now for about 10 or 12 or more years.

wow.... interesting. I will definitely look at that area. Thanks

Sure it's motor oil? The fan will blow other stuff all over and you have tranny lines and perhaps power steering stuff located elsewhere...

good question..... manual steering car so I eliminated that. Transmission cooler up front, but no oil in that area or on the fan. I am replacing the valve cover gaskets, fuel pump block off gasket, and a new oil filter.... Then, it will have to wait until spring because my full throttle passes are over for this year. Thanks everyone....

Agreed,
Seen warped filter seats a few times, --- warped due to filter to block adapter (adaptor?)
assembly issues, the gasket behind the filter seat is uber thick, but needs to be 'pulled down square' against the block.
Weak sauce web pic added below :D

What? Is it winter in Ohio already, lol.

My 69 340/4 speed had a high volume oil pump. It would do that under heavy acceleration. I changed back to a stock pump, problem gone.

did you determine where it was actually leaking?

I have not had the car out. I hope to take it out this coming weekend.

well.... no more oil leak. I changed valve cover gaskets, replaced the oil filter and potted the inside of the oil dipstick with epoxy. So, one or a combination of those items were the culprit. I would bet on the valve cover gaskets.....
