I have a Carter AVS 4966 and one of the floats has a hole in it somewhere. I tried to order one locally but the one I keep getting as the replacement is not the same as the original. The pic below is of the 2 different floats, one on the bottom is the one they keep sending me. My question to ya'll is, can I change both floats to the one they can get me? It does fit but will require minor tweaks to get it to work or do I need the original style?

I would try to get the original style if possible...

If not, I would try to get two of the same kind... You may need to play with your float level to see if it affects the settings with the different float...

Sorry if I lost ya in translation but thats kinda what I was asking. If I cant get the matching original float could I get 2 of the other style then set the float level?

That's what I'm saying. If you can't get the original style, then go with the new ones and see if it makes any difference on float level and adjust as needed...

can you submerge the original in gas, find and repair the leak....a drop of solder should do it?

Ya I sorta did that but with water...wasn't thinking at the time, do you know how long it takes for water to evaporate from inside a float? 3 weeks now and still has some in it lol

heat up the float, water to steam at 212 degrees, then you will also find your leak steam coming out of hole , steam stops , water gone ,solder hole
