d#$m TTI headers

But, tti's fit without any issues... so I've been told... LOL

Sometimes stuff happens, the cars are built with such crummy tolerances and a combo of a bunch of factors.

Ah, A-Body small block headers. You gotta love them. Has anybody ever just installed a pair with NO problems at all?

No problems at all on my Dart Sport with a 360/spool mounts and no problems with a set of E/F body headers I recently installed on a Dodge Aspen. Also 360 and spool mounts.

No problems here either installed them on 2 different dusters...

This is the real reason TTi's don't fit everyone's cars the same (probably). My frame measures a good 1/4" narrower than what it's supposed to be which is probably why mine hit the frame. Nothing you can do about that.

A few years back we were sitting around talking Mopars with Tom Hoover and he stated "We worked with strict tolarences as engineers back then,,,Plus or minus 2 inches."

If you read this whole thread you'll notice that the people that are having a problem all have biscuit mounts, and the people that say "fit like a glove" have spool mounts. Seems like a spool mount k member is the better choice.

I have Dougs on an early A which fit like a glove. The key to not hitting anything in my case was to loosen all mounts & jockey the motor around until fit was perfect. I'd say there was about 1/4" leeway to work with. Took a bit of time but worked out great. All mounts were stock. You can use a cherry picker or floor jack with block of wood under oil pan to lift the drivetrain.

Not true i've instaled TTI'S in 2 different '70 duster if you do it right they go right in..

Did tti headers in my brothers 340 70 duster, no problems , fit like a glove! And did it myself on the ground

I have had Hookers and TTi as well. The Hookers hung so low they scraped every dime on the road and I had no spark plug access without pulling the headers, which involved pulling the motor. The TTi are way better. I have plug access, but ....... I ordered the TTi directly from TTi. They asked my car make and model, motor size, transmission, starter and horsepower. They recommended the step headers that I bought. They cleared my frame rails but hit a raised casting on the motor that I had to grind down. then they hit the steering coupler and also the idler arm. I had to shift the motor a half inch. I have slotted mounts so it was pretty easy. TTi perfect fit isn't perfect, but I do love them. Three years now, and they look the same and perform awesomely.

im with WILDCAT
headers are a waste of time.
its been proven stock 340 early manifolds flow the same .

On a stock 340 headers will add about 15 to 20 hp, and the numbers go way up if you modify them, seen it on dynoes

Your sources are incorrect. Here is one of mine.

sorry but how can I did wrong
bolt the headers to the heads
bolt the mount to the engine
bolt the K-member to the month

no room to move the engine side to side with the mount
no room either with the K-member to move side to side

the only thing I can do is put shim between the mounth and the K-member
that doesnt help much if you have clearance issue between the frame and tube

for the friends who tell there is diferent thickness of mount its true
replace the one that came with the schumaker buy napa (alote more thick)
went and took a look at a friend dart that also use the biscuit mounth
they are eaven thicker than my napa

the only thing I see is weld some kind of flat barre to the schumaker bracket
slot hole and move the engine side to side
because as said earlier Id try about every thing to move it to the left
with out succes:banghead:
