The fact that it can be easily "fixed" is a help. I did not know that. You could also use the bottom valve for the inlet, I guess.

That is exactly how it is connected, the hose from the radiator goes to the bottom and the hose from the top is the overflow. Works well, have not ever had any puke out onto the ground. I run the coolant level below the radiator neck about 1 inch (when cold).
