Removing 340 heads

Don't want to if I don't have to at this time. Know what I mean?

If you did the compression test properly and got those numbers, I don't see a reason to disturb them.

My bet is the valve cover gaskets and perhaps the intake gasket. I can just about tell you those cork gaskets on the VC's are dry and hard.

I already replaced the VC gaskets and they still leaked a little and I had some room to tighten them down but the intake gaskets were almost dissolved by the time I removed the intake.

I have some original cork. Any suggestions on what would be better?

I like the neoprene rubber valve cover gaskets from fel pro. Just tell them that you have a 67 273 and that will be what the book recommends...

Okay quick question. Putting the exhaust manifold back on drivers side with a gasket should the heat shield go head side or manifold side?

Thanks...
