3 on my tree shifter too loose

0n the awesome 66 dart leaning tower with the famous A904. Shifter on column has too much play, and too loose. Almost 1/2in in each direction when in gear. There must be some way to tighten this up. transmission is good, so I think it is something in the linkage in the column or ?

By the way the 3 on the tree transmission is an A903. There are rubber bushings on the shifter arms on the left side of the transmission P/N 1941699 and they are available from http://www.dpmotorparts.com/index.cfm for $4.00 each. There is also an adjustment that can be made to compensate for wear in the column and the 2 shifter rods are also adjustable. A little lengthy to explain here I highly recommend you purchase a service manual either in paper form or CD rom.
