Best Cam for a 340

Has anyone run this cam XE268 or the XE284. Was wondering if the 284 was too much for the street. Will be running LD340 intake, TTi headers, 3.55 gears with a 727 tranny in a 69 dart with a 69 stock 340( unless I change the pistons). Carb is a holley 670 Avenger, Not sure on tires yet. Any thoughts guys.

"The Best Cam for my ***" is so subjective & Personal.

Considering you at least supplied enough information about the car and I'll assume it is a driver considering the gears and a "Stock '69-340" is in the car, I would have to say that the 284 is a bit high in its operating range for the set up. You didn't mention what stall the converter is....
And the catch of a converter is you will need more stall for a larger cam. Considering you have 3.55's, the converter may start getting a bit high for your taste.

The XE268 is a super streetable cam. The XE274 provides a few more rpm due to increased duration and a little more HP because of it & lift.

Choose your cam based on the rpm power band of the cam to match what your doing on the car. Street or strip?
