Find some local guys with v8 experience(mopars a plus)that have cars that run well.Hang out with them and ask them to take a look at yours.

First thing to do is make sure yours is in good working order.A compression test is a good place to start as well as checking the ignition timing.Things like plugs,wires,distributor cap and rotor if needed.If you get a good running healthy engine then you can fine tune for performance and look at upgrades as needed.

I would personally rather have a holley 650 spread bore than an edelbrock 600.You would have to have an intake manifold that accepts the spread bore carb.Either one can run well but properly set up the Holley makes more power hands down.
