Yes another Hellcat video.

How is the blower driven? If it is direct drive why does it sound like is it spinning down after the engine like a turbo? Does anyone know how it's driven?

I read somewhere it has some sort of clutch on the drive that allows it to free wheel when its not under power.

Not that motor. They are built in Detroit. The car is built in Canada. BTW...Ford is the biggest auto manufacturer in Mexico. And don't make it sound as if 'built in Mexico is crap'. Because it isn't.

That's pretty smart. I generally cannot STAND too much technology, but that's slick.

Not anymore. They are moving their plant back to the US.

Yes I'm more old school but am always impressed with what is being made these days. With varying valve timing, turbos, superchargerso and 8 speed transmission. They definitely have come along way.

You can take a tour of the Conner Avenue plant. They build the Viper there and assemble the SRT Hellcat engine there. Every engine is dyno'd then shipped across the river for installation. That engine in the Hellcat doesn't share any of the 392 SRT engine components. They are all hand built and assembled at the Conner Avenue plant. I have been told assembly will be moved to Windor next year. The numbers of those engines built doesn't make sense to put them on an assembly line. Same deal with the Drag Pak engines.

I am in Las Vegas at SEMA and that's what the SRT guys told me. Big showing of Mopar muscle. Just relaying what they told me. Saltillo is where they build most Chrysler engines. Just not that one. It's not an assembly line motor.

if that is true, and I thought I heard something about that, I think that would be great. And maybe start the trend for the other auto makers.

I may of heard that to but you wouldent think it with the dollar below 0.80 cents .

With all the talk about not being able to 'unlock' the 392s code how are these guys running running 9.90s@140 in newly released hellcat Challengers? The potential of these motors are scary. Must have $100K more than I do.

Awesome videos & the hell cat is an awesome car no doubt. Personally just not into the modern muscle scene. The Mopar drag days at my local track va motorsports park have become at leat 80% modern muscle. Great that they are being produced but it's the easy way out IMHO. Do nothing yourself except for throw money at dealer to go fast then more money at a builder or tuner to go faster.

-I don't give a **** where they're made.. THATS BADASS!!!!!!! Sound, tech (in it) the whole balla wax! Just to be able to rip tire on a semi split second gesture without even trying.. WHATS NOT TO LIKE!?

Yeah, I'll take one in Plum Crazy, with Banana Yellow trim "striping". I'm good to go...............

I know the cars are quick, but those videos are a bore.
I cant get into watching cars race without slicks and equipped with mufflers .
Snooze, My mom could drive that without widening her eyes it went so straight.
Not my cup of Mopar.
I thought it sounded like one of those overpriced european whatever's they bring over here for movie stars to drive. Feels foreign to me.
I'll happily embrace my dinosaur status and continue to enjoy the simpler mopars. You young guys can have em. Completely out of my league.

Not sure I understand how a changing yellow traffic light has anything to do with how straight those cars went down the track in those videos. It appeared effortless and with a civilized control that isnt very intresting to watch when compared to the old mopar drag cars that used to fill the stands back in the 60s and 70s.
I also doesn't change the fact they sound more like a European performance car rather than any drag cars I recall regardless what the new pickups cost these days.
I'm just saying put something entertaining on the track so its worth showing up. I've seen and heard Vegas that were more fun.
You would have to set that thing on fire and point it at me to get my attention with it again after watching those videos.
Those cars are a sorry show in my opinion.
What do you really expect from an old A-body enthusiasts. How can one to be expected to like
modern cars when we have a bodies. Nothing else will do.

subscribed,,,mopar or no car,,,the guys from mopar that go to those shows are clue less,,1 year I was at auto rama in detroit, the mopar performance guys were there I tried to get some info on the timing chain cover to dizzy conversion for the gen 3 hemi,,it was right in front of them,,they had no clue,,,called them one time about the nascar truck mechanical fuel pump,,,again,,duhhhhhhh

Very well put..and i'll add the fact most of the people i've met that own them are goofs with fat wallets that don't have a clue what they bought, doesn't take any talent at all to go buy a new car and race it,i know everything thats in my duster and did most of the work on it makes it most rewarding everytime my timeslips get faster and faster, and my duster IS a real musclecar not some plastic recycled tunafish can injected electronicly control mexican motored imported piece of crap!!

Here kitty, kitty.
Would love to see this 68 cuda match race a hellcat:cheers:
