I did the same swap (kind of, it was a TQ instead of 800 AFB/AVS) and road tested, not dyno tested the carb swap in '88. Since then I have been telling people about the use of the TQ being worth while. I never heard the end of the use of a crap carb was a waste of time. I still say today, the TQ isn't a bad S/S carb at all, worth the time to learn it.

I then did the MP LD340 mod on the said intake.

Lots of records have been set and broken in stock eliminator and s/s with the TQ. You'd think enough that people would sit up and take notice.
