Im kinda Bummed

I worked at Home Depot 10 years ago and they sold us on this idea of "success sharing". Basically saying if we worked really hard for a year and drove sales up, everyone in the store would get a bonus check.

So for a year we collectively busted *** and by the end of the year we had the highest sales the store had in years. After work on a Friday they had a BBQ and were handing out our success sharing bonus checks. Everyone was all excited until they opened that envelope.

We got $25 each. The managers got $15k a piece.

Everyone was so bitter that we just half assed the job from there on out and half the managers ended up getting fired due to poor store performance. It really does pay to keep your employees happy.

I'm on a unique bonus system....I work hours, I get paid for those hours! I ain't there...no hours, no pay!! I then have to turn in my hours and wait sometimes 3 months to get paid for some jobs!! I've learned to run lean, and let parts and cars take up the slack! My goal.....$100 a day!

Being without a steady job the last 2 1/2 years and going through all my savings has taken a toll with the stress. But it looks as though I will be getting a job. Well the job I should of taken 2 1/2 years ago, the transfer. I like the one point brought up about 'living with in your means'. Very true, OT should be treated as a 'bonus'. I had a friend who counted on the OT being there, and as a result when work slowed down as it's known to do, he suffered big time. I swore to myself that I WOULD NOT! live like that and so far have not done so. OT is a bonus, used to paying down bills so I can have more money when the OT is not there. Learned a lot over the years, so getting old does have it's advantages in that respect. LOL
