I saved 25% on dash bezels, a factory style tach and new lenses for my '68 convertible. No tax either. I never though I would pull the trigger on these parts, but my car sure did need them. The dash is such a huge part of a car's interior, and mine looked like crap.

Now I just have to swap them in along with a 150mph speedo I picked up. It will get me motivated to finish installing my A/C this winter.

Where did you purchase from? Bought one a couple months ago and the paint had runs in it, Sent it back via free shipping on them they looked at their other stock and they where the same #-o

Still in need

I used PG Classics, and got 25% off plus no sales tax. I have my fingers crossed the parts show up in great condition, but I used Paypal just in case.

I hope you get a better dash than I did. I shoulda kept the first one, I had to pay the shipping back to PG for the first shitty one.. second dash had worse "partial lettering" than the first one. ie "Viper", and quite a few other imperfections.

When I ordered she spoke english really well,, when I complained, her english - not so good.

I was waay less than 75% happy even with the 25% discount..

If you can inspect it before you accept it, I would encourage you to do so,

Fingers crossed for you..

Mine was from Classic Industries And I have no complaints the were right on it... right away they emailed me a prepaid postage label and got a call from them after they looked at their other stock.
Unfortunately the other ones from their vendor[Made in china] were not much better.

Customer service rep called me and said she has a note to watch when the new stock comes in to check them and give me a call.

Can't ask for much more then that, I could of had an incident like Inertia :wack:

The ridiculous thing is they're a Canadian Co. Ottawa I believe, they charge US funds, ship to the States Free, but not in Canada.. lol. At least that was my experience.

And when paying hundreds of bucks for a $10 piece of fancy plastic,, imho, it should be 99% perfect.

Yeah, what is up with the shipping to\from Canada? My Daughter lives Just north of Toronto and it costs a fortune to mail things up there. But I have purchased several things from Canadian based companies through Ebay and gotten free shipping....

All Hotchkis parts are 25% off till Nov30th on their site

I went to Mancini yesterday, looking for some Black Friday deals!! None were to be had, and I was the only one in the store! They coulda at least woke me up when they opened, I got there at 4am and slept out on the curb until 10!!!!!

Ordered 67 cuda taillamp lenses, and the chrome inserts from p&g classics. Keeping my fingers crossed too.

They had a 30% off sale thru classic industries if you buy $349 worth of stuff, and i would have ordered that stuff and a tachometer from them however, it was a sale the fine print saying "up to 30% off" this meant the tach i wanted reg priced at $204. At 30% off it should have been $143, but they had the price at $178 at discount, as well as the same for the lenses, and chrome inserts.

I said **** it, cancelled my order and got my lenses at a true 25% off.

Where did you get the tach at? I looked through P&Gs catalog. And could not find a repop tach.

BTW i bought my dash bezels, and gage bezels from laysons. They were really nice looking for restoration pieces. Not perfect, but nice for my car. I am sure that any time you get repop stuff you may end up with a blem, or have to massage pieces to fit a little bit.

I had to trim a little excess plastic around a turn signal hole, and out of the slots for heater control sliders, and it was a bit iffy fitting it to my metal gage housing. I had to rework the top of the new panel where the metal reinforcing plate is supposed to fit into it. However I think things like that are a little expected being this stuff is not NOS and the fact that the NOS ship has set sail more than a few decades ago.

My theory is, if you want NOS your gonna pay for it. Repop is a bit cheaper, may not be perfect, however it is way better than nothing.

I would agree with you IF a rallye dash bezel wasn't $495.00 .....that's a lotta coin! , I purchased one and the paint had Bad runs in it and top it of with the fitment issues that have been reported and that's No deal :protest:

I agree, the quality needs to be better, and thats why you return it when its crap. The minor things with my dash bezel i corrected because they could be easily corrected. And yes there was a small gap between the bezel and where it screws to the diecast gage housing not seen when the panel is installed. I used aluminum metal speed tape to close it up to keep dust out of the gages.

Yeah sure $495 is a small fortune to deal with imperfections. Yes i agree it sucks!!! However your other 2 choices are to get your brittle 45 plus year old original repaired and replated, or pay $1,000 plus dollars for an NOS piece of plastic, if you can find one, and in the configuration you need for your ride. A/C, non A/C, 67, 68,;69, 70, 71, woodgrain, or plain. Thats a lot of combinations to luck on the exact right one for your car.

I wish the quality was better on aftermarket parts for our cars i really do, i farted around and fitted mine as well as could be done as they arent perfect, and am fairly happy with it. Just hoping my taillamp lenses and lens escutcheons are going to decent, as this stuff sure costs enough to buy.

Another case in point the 67 only dash pad for my car. I wasnt going to spend a small fortune for a one year only dashpad. I went with a repop 69 to 76 pad in black.

I ended up buying the tach from YearOne for 30% off, no tax and a few bucks for shipping. They shipped it today.

The reason the prices are high for these repop parts compared to lets say 64-66 mustang parts is sheer numbers. By mid year 1966 ford had hit 1 million mustangs produced. All with very minor changes mostly related to interior and exterior color changes.

This adds up to recouping the tooling costs to repop a part pretty quickly. Economies of scale apply. I found a pair of 64-66 mustang tail lenses authorized fomoco repops for $25 a pair, whereas a set of 67 barracuda lenses are typically $200 a pair. There are way less buyers for the barracuda ones than the mustang ones.

Additionally i see way too many 67-69 barracudas which are restorable to the right person who has metalworking experience getting parted out and cut up. Proof that barracudas eat their own kind (lol). This in turn leaves even less of these cars around to be restored.

Companies retooling for this stuff look at the market that will purchase it, and have to look at return on investment. This doesnt mean we should accept shoddy parts, but accept parts that fit and work correctly.

If you want inexpensive repop stuff i suggest 64-66 mustang restoration. You could prob build a whole car for $5K. I like my 67 cuda. Its different, and you dont ever see them anymore. At least out here. As far as mustangs and camaros go you cant swing a dead cat without hitting one of either of these at a car show.

My wife wants an old camaro. I would build one for her as thats her thing, however id want to power it with a mopar just to spite the chevy purist.

I was just watching the news. They said the average person spent $132 between cyber monday and Black Friday. Not us car guys. I know I spent almost a $1000 at Summit.

Ok for anybody who cares to know, i just got my taillight lenses, escutcheons for the lenses, and reverse light bezels from P&G classics. Chrome was first class, the lenses i test fit into the housings. They fit perfectly, and had no flaws, escutcheons chrome was great, they fit the lenses perfectly, the reverse bezels the chrome was great, i test fitted them to the valance they fit great. Maybe dash bezels arent their strong point, and if any of this stuff i recieved was rough i would return it. Thankfully i dont need to.

Bottom line i got good parts for my money. Shipping was slow , but it was coming across borders so i guess i should have expected that. 25% off it was well worth the wait though.

Matt

Really glad you're happy, perhaps they got someone to do quality control..

Fingers still crossed for others..

Only thing with the reverse light bezels is the black thats supposed to be on the inset edge is not painted on these repops, but that is very minor and easily fixed when taped and sprayed, and the u shaped rubber bezel to body seals are a bit thick and not correct looking compared to the dried out originals. Since i am rebuilding the lamp assemblies i ordered a lens gasket kit for the reverse lenses from DMT that also came with the correct sized and shaped rubber bezel to body seals.

Matt

Before you tape and spray it, check out the various sized paint pen applicators available at hobby stores. They do a clean job, and are handy for re-whiting your instrument panel lettering.

My parts are due here tomorrow. I'll be sure and post a review. I did talk to a guy at PG regarding the quality issues I read about on the web. He assured me they sorted those issues out. I'll report back shortly.
