it was mentioned in a thread on a brand x forum that you use standard oil pump not HV on boosted engines.
mine is HV in a 360/410 stroker S475. all seems good.

just curious if there is any truth to this, or just brand x paranoia.

Supercharger or turbo? With the turbo requiring an oil feed I would go HV. With a supercharger having its own lube I see no need.

It's what you prefer.

I like hv and high pressure springs in my engines. I've run them for many decades and not had a problem. One of my first engines that we built had oil issues and I like to be safe. Some people don't agree, so criticize me all you want, but it has worked fine for me.

I'm with you on that, not so much high pressure but at least lots of volume. One of my machinists always says all that extra oil pressure and volume is just a mini dyno robbing power. I said I would gladly give up those few ponies for peace of mind....

I agree.

How much horsepower loss is that going to make? A few?

If you can't build an engine with enough power to overtake that small loss, then you shouldn't be building an engine....

Would you not fully pack the front wheel bearings with grease to get less rolling resistance from all the grease in there???

I prefer to have too much lube to to little... (It hurts less....) :bootysha:

Car craft had a dyno results from a HV vs SV oil pump on a chevy...difference was 4 hp...

Found more hp by changing viscously.......
