I am recruiting everything i need to swap a big block into my 72 Demon 4 speed car. Questions are as follows...

Is the flywheel and clutch different from a small block to a big block? I assume yes but want to be sure.

What brand of Flywheel would be a good choice?

The motor will be a stock 440. Nothing crazy. Just a mild cam (I.E. for numbers sake a 284/484 comparison) Have not decided on iron or aluminum heads yet. Mopar intake with a double pumper. TTI headers. I have a 4.10 8 3/4 rear. I am learning here so don't beat on me too hard. I just want to get all the pieces to the puzzle before i park the car. Right now is a 318 with a purple stick, 360 heads, and a set of hookers. Fun but have always wanted a big block car like my dad had.

Flywheel and clutch should be the same. Just make sure the big block bell housing is set up for the 10.5 clutch. The problems would be with balance if you are going cast crank INTERNAL VS EXTERNAL BALANCE etc... The pivot ball and bracket for the big block bell housing to fit the A body I'm pretty sure is different or will have to be altered.

I just went through this. The flywheel and clutch are the same. The tti headers require their special z bar, 90 bucks. The bellpivot is specific for a body big block. The z bar still needs clearanced for the starter as it returns. I just ground a little out. The starter is a problem because it runs so close to the headers. Make sure to put a wrap on ur starter. Some guys starters get so much heat it takes a half hour to start again. All have tti's. I have a 383 and ran a mopar mini starter. With the 440 headers you may have to run a starter specified in tti directions. I believe the rods going from the z bar to pedals are the same. The fork i think is different. I went from auto to 4 speed so that one I am not sure of. Check your bellhousing. A body big block bell is the same a 65 c body big block bellhousing. The small block bells are different I believe. The bell crank pivot is specific for the bell. Hope this helps.

mguner and 684door thanks for the info. That is a huge expense savings knowing I don't have to purchase different ones. I have seen the Z bar notes elsewhere for the TTIs. I have a local Mopar guy that i bought the current SB bell housing from. So I hope to trade that back in for a BB bell housing and the proper fork and what not. I know I could have asked him this info but he is a very busy guy being basically the only Mopar guy around me. This is just a stock 79 440 from a RV. As of now is going to stay stock rotating but might change if things do not look good.
