I have been (and probably will continue for awhile) to be kind of scarce on FABO due to the fact the Wife (Stephanie) decided to join us in the Mopar owners world.
Since I'm doing the work on it for her we don't have to put out any funds for that, but it added to the load a bit as far as my available time and energy.:D

She found it on Craigslist and we drove about 2 blocks from our house to see it.
I thought we were just going over to see a 72 Dart and the next thing I know she was handing the guy money. (she asked me if I thought it was worth having first)

It ran like hell when we brought it home, but I figured in the worst case it might need a motor.

Long story short, I pulled the stock 318 back from the dead and it runs great now with good oil pressure.

1968 340 cam
MP hydraulic lifters
Double roller set
Chain tensioner
New melling std oil pump
All new rod and main bearings
-10/-10 crankshaft
030 over pistons and rings
New rear main seal
New front seal
New water pump
All new top end gaskets and seals
New brass freeze plugs
8mm yellow Accel wires and Accel red distributor cap
HEI ignition from classichei.com (me:D)

The car is a 1972 LH23 Dart Swinger and apparently recently had the 904 rebuild (receipt for it in the car and the trans looks completely clean and leak free.)
It had all new motor and trans mounts already done and new Ujoints.

It does have a little rust on it, but barely at all on the body except in the trunk where it got leaked into from the rear window lower lip.
A member here is helping me out with the lower window channel that I temporarily filled with fiberglass (Bondo Hair) to stop the leak until I can replace the channel.
We will be needing a few minor things for it from some of you members, but we'll get to that later.

All the lights already worked except the right signal, but a signal cam was included with the car so we'll see. (I have a feeling it's the cam and a wiring issue) but I haven't gotten to that yet, or the horn that doesn't work.
Both of those will come at the same time I have the wheel of for the new signal cam and whatever else that right signal entails.

It came with power steering and power brakes with Kelsey Hayes four piston calipers along with 3 speed wipers that work. (just needs a bushing on the drivers side arm because it clicks from play in it, but I have one)

Front OEM split high back bench is in pretty good shape and the rear seat had been recovered with the original material and pattern and looks new.

At this point we have right at $2,500 total into buying and fixing it, so this is one that will not be upside down as far as worth and costs goes. :D

Congratulations on your car Stephanie.

Enough with words, here's your car ****. :D

Her car is cooler than yours. Sorry.

Great buy. enjoy the new ride.

Nice find and color combination, especially for the money you've got into it at this point. Gives me hope that there are still some great deals out there for me when I'm ready in a few months for a new addition.

They pop up here and there, but the real trick is to be ready when they do.
I had NO idea we were "ready" when we went to look at this car until the cash came out. :D

The other day my wife said "I'm leaving" in a kidding type "I'm not coming back" voice on her way out the door to go to the store or something, so I asked her if I could have her Dart. :D

nice- obviously well taken care of - "we'll" be ok, and understanding while you're away working.. happy wife, happy life

I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan, so ready will be when I'm back in the states in a few months with cash in hand. I sold a '75 Dart Sport a few years ago on Ebay to a guy in Pennsylvania that I wish I could get back. Thinking about putting a post up on the Lost and Found section, but all I have is a picture, no VIN. Probably not much luck finding that one.
