Hello, I was wondering if anybody has installed a factory 6 pac on a 340 in a 1969 dart. the big question is does it fit under a stock 340 hood, it looks like it will fit but it is a fair amount of work to find it doesn't clear by 1/2" or so.
Thank you for your help

Hello and welcome Chuck, Im going to move this to a section that gets a little more traffic, and hopefully can get answered for you.

I think you can find the flange height listed on the Edelbrock website. Then compare it to what you have on there now.

One of the people in the Mopar club that I belong to has a stock 6-pak set up in his 1967 Dart, with the original air cleaner. I don't think that he did anything to make it fit. Be sure that your engine sits flat in the engine compartment from side to side. With factory biscuit mounts it is possible for the block to sit tilted to the left or right, which is multiplied at the air cleaner potentially causing clearance problems on one side or the other. The fix is relatively easy - loosen the biscuit nuts on top and bottom on both sides and put a jack with a wood block that covers the bottom of the pan but fits inside the K-frame to slightly lift the motor (SLIGHTLY!!!). Then get a second set of hands to lower the jack while you get the motor in there square. Many take a few tries.

Whatever you do, when you've got it installed DO NOT JUST SLAM THE HOOD!!! Check it gently and easily maybe put something that squishes on top of the air cleaner to see how much clearance there is as you bring the hood down. If you use the big 6-pak air cleaner remember that the clearance problem will probably show up where the underhood bracing is Good luck!

wow, my car is close to the same, B5 blue with pearl white interior and white convertible top. Thank you for your time

I did end up having to do 2 minor modifications however ! 1st, the windshield wiper motor sticking out like mine does required rolling the bottom lip of the Air Cleaner, 2nd was the radiator hose, which we did the same thing to, just enough to keep the lid from cutting into the hose !
