6 pac swap

One of the people in the Mopar club that I belong to has a stock 6-pak set up in his 1967 Dart, with the original air cleaner. I don't think that he did anything to make it fit. Be sure that your engine sits flat in the engine compartment from side to side. With factory biscuit mounts it is possible for the block to sit tilted to the left or right, which is multiplied at the air cleaner potentially causing clearance problems on one side or the other. The fix is relatively easy - loosen the biscuit nuts on top and bottom on both sides and put a jack with a wood block that covers the bottom of the pan but fits inside the K-frame to slightly lift the motor (SLIGHTLY!!!). Then get a second set of hands to lower the jack while you get the motor in there square. Many take a few tries.

Whatever you do, when you've got it installed DO NOT JUST SLAM THE HOOD!!! Check it gently and easily maybe put something that squishes on top of the air cleaner to see how much clearance there is as you bring the hood down. If you use the big 6-pak air cleaner remember that the clearance problem will probably show up where the underhood bracing is Good luck!
