Anyone fired up about the new movie? I have been a fan since the showing of the first one. I don't need to go to the premiere but I will see it in the next few weeks. I hope the 3 D version is good. tmm

yup ...planning on going to see it.

I was still a stem cell when the first 3 that came out but they are the best ones so far .....I remember seeing jar jar binks as a pre-teen and I thought he was stupid then and I think he is stupid now. Episode 2 and 3 were ok, but queen Amidala being a raging cougar was kinda disturbing. 2 and 3 really made me explore the competition and become a Trekkie for awhile.

I doubt this new one will be to the caliber of the original older trilogy, Especially Emipire Strikes Back.........but we will see.

Hopefully Disney does a better job than putting a retard like Jar Jar in. :finga:

Yep,

Taking the wife and kids to see it Thursday 3-D. I think she and I are more excited than the kids though :???:

My son works for Disney travel in Anaheim. Their company Christmas party is a private screening of "Star Wars" on premier day, 12/18.
He's pretty excited about it and my daughter is upset because he gets to see it before she does.
Girls! They're both adults. Deal with it!

My wife and I are planning to go see it sometime Christmas weekend.

I saw the original in '77,when I was 10.. It was an hour wait, for tickets then.. Yes ,I want to see it,I'll wait a few weeks...

saw the original at a midnight premiere in '77. Will go see the new one next week during the day hopefully.

I love all the movies and still watch them with my boy. Sorry i hope im wrong but im thinkin flop......disney,,,star wars HMMMMMMMM i cant see it being great. Like said i hope im wrong.

but queen Amidala being a raging cougar was kinda disturbing

If ya really wanna get technical, in the Star Wars world, the character of Amidala was only four years older than Anakin. Not that much of a raging cougar. At least Natalie Portman (who played Amidala) didn't have to get it on with Jake Lloyd in the second and third movies. The actor that played Anakin in the Phantom Menace was about 8 years younger than her. That would have put him in his early to mid teens when they filmed the 2nd and 3rd movies, and she would have been in her early 20s. That would have been WAY ewwie...

I'm not saying this just to be pedantic, Rani. I'm just trying to ease any disturbance you feel about the relationship between Amidala and Anakin.

I've been a huge Star Wars fan since I was a kid. I went to each opening night of the latest 3 when they came out. This time Im waiting. Im getting to damn old to go at Midnight and I just dont want to deal with all the people. I'll go to the theater and see this one after the hype dies down somewhat.

Hahaha lmfao well said!! As far as the movie goes I'm definetly gonna see it but a week after so I don't have to put up with all the screaming and yelling at the premier!

I was 9 in 77.

I think I went sometime during the first week.

Lines to get in still. Ended up seeing it about 5 times in a two year span. My best friend saw it 22 times!

None can hold a candle to "Episode 4", but ESB is a good second effort.

My grandmother at the time said it reminded her of the motion picture heyday of the 1930's and 40's and she identified with the "space cowboy" theme and the grandiose plot and effects.

The cinematography is so well executed, you can actually turn off the sound and follow the story line with absolutely no dialog!

What disturbs me the most is that "Episode 4" is very, well "realistic" in the way the surroundings and even the actions of the characters is delivered.

With each release, things seem to get more and more "coincidental" and happy ending in a "sesame street" (Disney?) kind of way.

Darth Maul rode a space moped? Really? Not very intimidating.

Hell, Lucas even re-edited things to make the characters "kinder and gentler".

I actually think the franchise may be in better hands at (gasp) Disney .

If you haven't caught any episodes of Disney's "Star Wars Rebels", I highly recommend it.

Even though it's geared towards a younger audience, it has a LOT of the "feel" of the original movies.

I believe it's set between episode 3 and 4 because Darth Vader exists, although there is no mention of Luke or Leia or Kenobi.

With that being said, there are already things I'm not terribly comfortable with about "Episode 7".

I'm not totally buying the vibe from the black guy. He's a bit too hip and casual.

I'm not crazy about the roly-poly droid. Another WAY too cutesie character.

We shall see, shant we?

We are fans, we own all six DVD's in boxed sets. We started last week with episode #1 and watched all six episodes sequentially and are now ready for the #7. Not in a hurry though, it will be playing a long time and I am not a big crowd guy.

never been a sci-fi fan.. so nah. This is JMO - - movies in general are a waste of time.. and only good for exactly that - wasting time. Maybe on a Sunday afternoon or evening, really shitty out and can't get motivated to do anything around the house.. ok, lets rent a movie... pay-per-view - $4.99 is the limit

Too bad Princes Lia is not going to wear the original slave outfit:tongue1:

THANK GOD Princess Leia is not going to wear the original slave outfit View attachment puke.gif

Fixed it for ya. (Thanks to Divenut for the gif...) I don't think anybody wants to see that. She'd look more like Jabba in that metal bikini these days...

For what it's worth, we just got back from seeing Episode 7. I thought it was very good, and kept more in line with the original trilogy than the prequels did. I don't know that I'll see it again anytime soon, though, because I cried enough the first time. Yes, I will admit it. I cried. And that's all I got to say about that...

Just saw the movie this afternoon, it was very good. Better than I expected. A few plot twists, but the storyline needed up dating. As for the best, not really Empire still is supreme due to its character development, this one did an ok job with that. Thats way many love Star Wars is that we get to relate with characters from the movie. Everyone has a favorite character they pretend they are.

I agree with YY1 the re-editing screwed up the old movies, the CGI ruined a New Hope and Jedi. I also recommend Rebels, I watch them with my son, and they do mention Kenobi when Ashoka shows up.
