Star Wars?

I was 9 in 77.

I think I went sometime during the first week.

Lines to get in still. Ended up seeing it about 5 times in a two year span. My best friend saw it 22 times!

None can hold a candle to "Episode 4", but ESB is a good second effort.

My grandmother at the time said it reminded her of the motion picture heyday of the 1930's and 40's and she identified with the "space cowboy" theme and the grandiose plot and effects.

The cinematography is so well executed, you can actually turn off the sound and follow the story line with absolutely no dialog!

What disturbs me the most is that "Episode 4" is very, well "realistic" in the way the surroundings and even the actions of the characters is delivered.

With each release, things seem to get more and more "coincidental" and happy ending in a "sesame street" (Disney?) kind of way.

Darth Maul rode a space moped? Really? Not very intimidating.

Hell, Lucas even re-edited things to make the characters "kinder and gentler".

I actually think the franchise may be in better hands at (gasp) Disney .

If you haven't caught any episodes of Disney's "Star Wars Rebels", I highly recommend it.

Even though it's geared towards a younger audience, it has a LOT of the "feel" of the original movies.

I believe it's set between episode 3 and 4 because Darth Vader exists, although there is no mention of Luke or Leia or Kenobi.

With that being said, there are already things I'm not terribly comfortable with about "Episode 7".

I'm not totally buying the vibe from the black guy. He's a bit too hip and casual.

I'm not crazy about the roly-poly droid. Another WAY too cutesie character.

We shall see, shant we?
